Ash Wednesday Message from Lough Derg

This Ash Wednesday you are invited to join with Fr La today and in the coming weeks as pilgrims together on the Lenten journey.

Each week Fr La will take one of the many different crosses that are part of Lough Derg as a visual focus, and also guided by some of the challenging and heart-warming reflections that Pope Francis proposes in his message, for which he takes as a title this line from St Paul: ‘The creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God.’ (Romans 8:19)

I hope that we may be able to support each other by sharing the journey in this way.

Wishing you a good Lent,
Fr La Flynn

About The Author

Lough Derg in County Donegal is a living place of pilgrimage with an ancient tradition. Legend and history intertwine in the emergence of St Patrick’s Purgatory as a famous pilgrimage destination on the very edge of medieval Europe. Each summer thousands still come to Lough Derg – some taking off their shoes to make the challenging Three Day Pilgrimage, others to find welcome time apart on a One Day Retreat.
